Last Year's Weighty Problem Page

This is the record of my miserable attempt at weight loss for last year. This year I'm hoping for great things...

I'll be dodging grids in case I fall down them soon!

My maximum during June --- December 1996 was
17st 4lb (=242lb =109.9kg)
and my minimum was
16st 7lb (=231lb =104.9kg)

17 June, 1996 -
16st 13lb (=237lb =107.5kg)
23 June, 1996 -
16st 13lb (=237lb =107.5kg)
No change - but at least there's no increase!
30 June, 1996 -
16st 11lb (=235lb =106.7kg)
Ah! Some sign of success...
6th August, 1996 -
16st 9lb (=233lb =105.8kg)
Another 2lb gone --- nice, steady rate of descent [grin]
13th August, 1996 -
16st 9lb (=233lb =105.8kg)
Aw, stuck for a week --- I shouldn't have had that pizza on Saturday!
20th August, 1996 -
16st 7lb (=231lb =104.9kg)
That's better --- back on the downward trend.
27th August, 1996 -
16st 11lb (=235lb =106.7kg)
Arrrgh!!!! 4 pounds gain. I blame the scales.
3rd September, 1996 -
17st 1lb (=239lb =108.5kg)
Oh no, another 4 pounds gain. Those scales can't be right!
10th September, 1996 -
17st 0lb (=238lb =108.1kg)
Ah, back to the right direction...
17th September, 1996 -

Drat --- got some new scales, and they do this to me!
24th September, 1996 -

Okay, back down again --- let's see if I can maintain it.
1st October, 1996 -
17st 0lb (=238lb =108.1kg)
Stuck at 17st: still a pound up on my starting weight, but at least it's no more than last week.
8th October, 1996 -
17st 0lb (=238lb =108.1kg)
Crikey! Still 17st... now I've got to keep a food diary.
I've got to write down everything I eat: Doctors orders!
15th October, 1996 -
17st 1lb (=239lb =108.6kg)
So much for the food diary, I've put on another pound --- I was doing better without the food diary.
I know what I'm eating now though... don't worry, I won't load that on you lot! [grin]
22th October, 1996 -
17st 3lb (=241lb =109.4kg)
I've put on another two pounds --- I'm definately eating something I shouldn't.
I'll try harder this next week... no more chocolate :-)
29th October, 1996 -
17st 4lb (=242lb =109.9kg)
Right that's it! I refuse to get any heavier!!
I've resisted this next move like mad --- I'm starting counting calories! I'll try to stick to 1500 calories per day initially.
Let you know next week if I manage to keep to it ;-)
5th November, 1996 -
17st (=238lb =108.0kg)
At last!!! I've kept to my calorie counting, even when I went to a Cursillo Ultreya on Saturday.
So, that's four pounds off --- it feels a whole lot better already! [grin]
12th November, 1996 -
16st 10lb (=234lb =106.2kg)
This is better --- at last I'm back below what I started at. Things are looking up.
19th November, 1996 -
16st 9lb (=233lb =105.8kg)
Another pound off --- okay, it's not as good as the last two weeks, but I don't want to rush it either ;-)
27th November, 1996 -
16st 12lb (=236lb =107.1kg)
Drat --- back in the wrong direction... well, with renewed vigour I shall plow onward (or downward to be more exacting [grin]).
3rd December, 1996 -
16st 12lb (=236lb =107.1kg)
Well, the last official weigh-in of 1996. The club at work has disolved for Christmas... We've been putting in £1 per week, and an extra 10p for each pound gained in a week, so I've come out with about £22 to do with as I wish.... I'm tempted to blow it all on chocolate [grin]
In fact I'm going to treat Fiona (my wife) to something nice for Christmas.
We'll be starting up the weigh-ins after Christmas, so I've got to be careful over this festive season to go easy on the Christmas pud and trifles.

Units of mass

1 stone = 14 pounds
1 pound = 454 grammes
1000 grammes = 1 kilogramme
